COMMERCIALISING SEGWAY HT Inspired by the pre-launch publicity and the prediction of John Doerr, a Segway board member and partner of Kleiner Perkins Caulfield&Byers, that Segway HT sales would be reaching $1 billion in less time than any other start-up company,15 Dean Kamen established a 77,000 square-foot factory in Bradford, New Hampshire, in 2002, to manufacture 40,000 Segway HTs per month.
